3 Phoenix, Inc. (3Pi) was awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to apply AF06-273 technologies to develop cost-effective technology for Radio Frequency (RF) signal distribution over fiber onboard submarines. The technology has the ability to reduce RF signal loss over long distances and across a wide frequency range; reduce the number of hull penetrations; support mast consolidation; and reduce installation costs. The RF over fiber technology will be applied to achieve low cost, efficient, and compact distribution of high bandwidth signals throughout the ship.
